The Art of Retreat
February 4-9, 2014
Northwest Flower and Garden Show
Washington State Convention center, Seattle, Washington
Garden Creator, show garden
The garden takes a unique perspective through the eyes of a mother- daughter design team.Individually they are gold medal winners of designs at past Northwest Flower and Garden Shows. In 2014, they are teaming up as co-designers.
Each was given the same amount of space in the garden and a studio to personalize.
It is there that the generations put their distinct mark on the space.
Mom-(Sue) stylizes a space in the midst of the garden for inspiration, meditation… a place to unplug. She creates an artist retreat she fondly calls “Studio Botanica.” It is a place to collect vintage botanical etchings, books and create botanical drawings using plants from the garden as the muse.
Daughter-(Courtney) creates a vibrant studio to plug and play. A haven inspired by the artistry of video game story boards. It is a place to create diverse stories of people and places blending the world of technology and imagery. Living walls, lush meadows, and rivers of plants chosen for their foliage textures and colors weave through both sides of the gardens.
