Designing a Garden
A creative look at garden design and how to see a garden through a designer’s eyes. Perfect for additions to existing landscapes or creating new spaces. one day, 4-hour workshop or can be broken into multiple sessions.
Syllabus
#1: The artistry of the garden, photos and journeys of inspiration, from classic to historical.
#2: the basics: soil, site, culture. It all starts here. From the ground to the sky, 
#3 Creating Space; Where are the lines of your coloring book? 
#4 The décor, findings and elements the give a garden longevity and beauty in all seasons. seasons
#5 The plants: a stroll through the nursery. How not to get lost, distracted or discouraged!
#6: Putting all together: graph paper, the layering effect, scale, categories of plant textures, budgeting
#6 Creativity and upkeep thru the seasons

Guerrilla Garden Design:
 Bring photos and let’s draw!
A popular fun session! We start with ideas and inspiring before and after makeovers. Now-how do we get there in our own space? Attendees bring (or send prior to class) photos of their garden design dilemmas. We draw on the photos and show how to re-think what the photo really shows! Design sessions with tips and stylizing for the real world. 
2-hour session or can be defined by audience size. This session can also be added to the “Designing a Garden” series or as a stand-alone workshop. 

The Herb Lover’s Spa Garden 
Come for a show and smell! This fun and informative workshop is about growing healing, aromatic herbs and using them in hand blended spa treatments. Make fresh herbal potions from the garden, including bathing blends, sensual sugar scrubs, powders, fragrant mists and more. Get to know the nurturing attributes of herbs, how to grow them, and information on other ingredients used in herbal care recipes. Recipe demonstrations and samples for attendees available. 2- hour workshop with handouts and optional PowerPoint show 

Sanctuary Garden Design: 
How many times have you thought of your garden as your sanctuary? Take an intermission from the stress of the day in your own garden! Surround, grow, and create with inspiration to design small spaces for retreat. Sanctuary in the garden can be as simple as seating in the midst of a woodland or a private outdoor bath. Surround yourself with aromatic plants and comfortable living spaces to fill your senses. Make music with the rustle of ornamental grasses, the hum of bees and the songs of birds. How to grow gardens that delight all of the senses- sound, sight, touch, taste and fragrance. Read, bathe, dine, grow! Tips, techniques and design elements to capture a garden sanctuary-large or small.  . 2- hour workshop with PowerPoint show and handouts.
